What can I say - I've got a passion for telecoms! I've been interested in it for as long as I can remember, from almost going to university to study Communication Systems Engineering (electronics with a telecom slant) to working for
Jersey Telecoms, I've always loved phones, communications, and a host of related things!
I understand the basic principals of analog telephony, what makes the phone on your desk work, through to ISDN, digital transmission systems, and how the big picture goes together. I'm also pretty knowledgable on
GSM and the stuff that goes with it, like SMS (text messaging).
One of my big things is
IVR and I have extensive experience with Parity Software's
VOS which is now known as Intel's CT-ADE (Computer Telephony Applications Development Environment), developing numerous applications using
Dialogic hardware.
Below are some of the topics that are relevant to my telecom knowledge:
Technologies:
- PRI - Primary Rate ISDN, T1/E1
- GSM - Global System for Mobile Communications + SMS (text messaging)
- VoIP - Voice over IP
- Asterisk - Asterisk PBX (Linux/VoIP + more)
