IVR is an acronym for Interactive Voice Response. IVR systems allow telephone users to interact with computer systems by pressing keys on their telephone keypad. A typical example of IVR is an auto-attendant, answering phone calls and inviting a caller to key in an extension number or press a specific digit for a given department. Telephone banking and chat/date lines are also examples of IVR applications.
